BSDA received awards for overall contribution and excellent project management

On December 6, 2018, at an official ceremony in Sofia, organized by the Center for Development of Human Resources, the Bulgarian sports development association was awarded with a quality sign for the organization and implementation of the “Vitamin S(port)” project, co-funded under the Erasmus + Program Key Action 1 - Mobility for young people and youth workers. The award was received by Emiliya Tzanova – Project assistant at BSDA and Nikola Zdravkov - a volunteer in the organization.

Traditionally, at the end of each year, the Center for Development of Human Resources reviews the projects and activities implemented in Bulgaria with the support of Erasmus + - the biggest, most popular and most effective European Commission Program in the field education, youth and sport. In order to present the broad scope and beneficial results of the projects implemented in Bulgaria in 2018 within the framework of the Program, at the beginning of December 2018, the National Agency - CDHR - is conducting the already traditional Erasmus + Valorisation Conference.

Within the "Vitamin S(port)" project, representatives of 9 countries had the opportunity to be trained in Sofia in the period 01-09 August 2017 and to realize how to use sport as a training tool in their work with young people. Youth workers from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Jordan went through a number of training modules, among which: the importance of sport and physical activity for building knowledge and skills among young people, sport as a training tool, sports management, promotion of sport and physical activity, promotion of European values through sport, conflict management and team building through sport. The participants discussed ideas and suggestions, and exchanged experiences on how to motivate young people to be more active, focusing on their increased employability and learning ability if they are more active. On December 5th, 2018, the international volunteering day, in the Sport Museum, at National Stadium "Vasil Levski" the annual ProSport prizes were awarded by the ProSport Foundation and Special Olympics Bulgaria within the framework of the International Conference “Access to Sport – sport as a tool for inclusion”. Among the nominees and winners was the Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA). The annual awards "ProSport'2018" for development of volunteering in sport social mission of sport are given annually in the following categories: civic organization, school, university, sports federation, sports club, state institution, corporate partner, volunteer, municipality and kindergarten. The winning prize is for an overall contribution to the broadening of the access to sport, which the Bulgarian sports development association received in the category of Civil Organization 2018. The event was attended by Ivaylo Zdravkov and Kalinka Gudarovska, Board members of BSDA. They presented the activities of the "Good Governance in Sport " #GoodGovernanceSport project and Speech.

#GoodGovernanceSport project is coordinated by the Bulgarian sports development association. #GoodGovernanceSport - 590305-EPP-1-2017-1-BG-SPO-SCP / and is co-funded by Erasmus + Sport of the European Commission / Strategic Partnerships in Sport / partnership of 7 countries, which will last for 30 months, starting on 01/01/2018. The #GoodGovernanceSport project aims to find a way to analyze, collect and promote good practices for appropriate visibility of decisions made and made, responsible bodies and transparency of sports organizations in Europe and partner countries. The first results of the project were presented during the event in the Belgian capital, which is an extensive study of the websites of 56 sports organizations at national and European level, aimed at establishing to what extent sport structures ensure transparency of decisions and financial transactions performed. The SpeeCh - Sports Psychiatric Community project is a project that starts on January 1, 2017 and will carry out a variety of activities in the last two years:
• Participation of representatives of the target group from Bulgaria in an international sports event in Germany
• Creating opportunities for adults with mental disability to practice sporting activities;
• Publication of a manual "Methodologies and techniques for managing sports activities related to the social inclusion in the local communities of people with psychiatric illnesses".

These are the serial awards that "Bulgarian sports development association" receives in 2018, after in July this year the General Direction for Education, Youth, Sports and Culture informed that project #EUEverydaySport was also selected for Success Story and Good practice by experts from the Direction. "Success Stories" are the completed projects that are awarded because of their impact, policy-making, innovative results and/or a creative approach and can serve as inspiration for other organizations, the letter from the European Commission says. The selection of projects has been carried out on the basis of strict criteria and taking into account their quality, relevance and results.

“These awards are the acknowledgments for the efforts which the "Bulgarian sports development association" is doing in order to change the attitudes in our country and to realize the positive activities aimed at both young people in Bulgaria and the development of sport and sports specialists. Our main mission is to provide maximum opportunities for development, and we hope that this will be a prerequisite for the implementation of more and better practices from Europe at the local level. We are motivated to work even harder in 2019 and I am very grateful to the team and the volunteers in the organization who work with dedication in order to have wonderful activities, highly appreciated at the European level”, Joanna Dochevska, chairwoman of BSDA, said.
